SRT Scarlette brings home a WIN from Street Car Takeover

Scarlette Takes the W at Street Car Takeover Dallas

What. A. Weekend.

Street Car Takeover Dallas was hot—both the weather and the racing—and Scarlette came to play. If you’ve been following along, you already know my 2018 Dodge Challenger Hellcat isn’t just a looker, she’s a fighter. We ended the weekend taking the win in the Street Car Daily class, and I couldn’t be more proud of how she performed.

Friday – Testing, Qualifying, and a Familiar Face

We kicked things off Friday with a smooth test pass, then went right into qualifying. First round out, Scarlette laid down a 9.44, which locked us into the eliminations early. We decided to sit out the next round and save the car for later.

Later that night during test & tune, we lined up for a grudge race against a Procharged S550 Mustang—this was a rematch from T&E Promotions’ “Down Memory Lane” event where the Mustang had issues on the line. And, well… it happened again. He spun off the hit, so still no clean race between us, but that puts Scarlette 2-0 against that car. We’ll see if the third time’s the charm.

Saturday – Surprise Entry in Heavyweights

Saturday morning, right before the drivers meeting, I got talked into jumping into the Heavyweight Class. We hadn’t planned on it, but I figured why not? I left the “max” tune loaded from Friday night since Scarlette had never spun on a prepped track before, even in heat. But this time was different—she got a little wild. I had to pedal her to the 330’, let out, then got back in it. Not a clean pass, but somehow it was still enough to get us qualified in heavyweights.

Back to the pits, got the car ready for what really mattered—Street Car Daily eliminations.

Street Car Daily – Let’s Get to Work

Round 1, we drew a Fox Body Mustang. He got me by a tenth and a half at the tree, and I honestly thought my day was done. But Scarlette came alive quick, reeled him in, and we crossed with a 9.29 on the board. One down.

Next up was Round 1 of heavyweights. I lined up against Steve in another Bailey’s Hyperformance car. I knew I needed to kill it at the tree, and I did—got him by a tenth. We were side by side to the eighth, but he started creeping past and got me by a fender at the stripe. That ended our heavyweight run, but it was a killer race.

Back to Street Car Daily Round 2, and we’re up against a beautiful purple ZL1 Camaro. Young driver, super clean car. Unfortunately, he bumped past the stage beam and red-lit. Hate to take one like that, but that’s racing. On to Round 3.

Round 3, we pulled up next to an S197 Mustang that had run nearly identical times in qualifying. I knew this one would be close. We were door to door through the eighth, but Scarlette started pulling away and got the win by a few cars at the stripe.

The Finals – Hellcat vs Tesla

It’s now 2:30 AM, we’re all running on fumes, and the finals are here. Me and Scarlette in the left lane, and in the right, a Tesla Model S Plaid. EV vs ICE. Modern tech vs American muscle. The tree drops, and he gets the jump by a tenth—but Scarlette catches up fast. We are absolutely neck and neck the entire way.

Nobody in the stands or staging lanes could call it.

And then—boom—win light comes on in the left lane. Scarlette takes it!

Final Thoughts

It was one of the most exciting weekends I’ve ever had at the track. From laying down solid passes to battling through the rounds and ending the night with the closest race of my life, Street Car Takeover Dallas was one for the books. Huge shoutout to everyone who helped get us there, and to the fans who stuck around ‘til nearly 3 AM.

Scarlette’s coming home with the Street Car Daily trophy, and she earned every bit of it.
